On Thursday 15 March, RTPI London held an open information evening on becoming a chartered Town Planner at WSP’s Chancery Lane office. The session was designed to introduce Licentiates and Town Planners with an accredited University degree to the process of becoming a chartered member of the RTPI. Lee, one of the RTPI’s dedicated membership coordinators, gave a detailed presentation on the application process for becoming an MRTPI. Throughout this first hour of the evening, the participants were briefed on what the L-APC is, eligibility, available learning resources, the assessment process and the submission, mentoring and tips for success.
After a short break and refreshments, courtesy of WSP, the roughly 60 participants split up into smaller groups to work on Professional Development case study examples. Helpful tips from our assessor Alison were particularly well received by the participants and made for a lively discussion.
